'NEVER FORGET EVERYTHING HITLER DID IN GERMANY WAS LEGAL"( MARTIN LUTHER KING)

Mark Twain said:"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it." Martin Luther King, Jr. said: "Never forget that everything Hitler did in Germany was LEGAL."

The two quotes concern some of the conflict that American citizens are feeling about the sharp divide being experienced in our political system at this time. We have one party that represents the city population point of view and the other party that represents a larger share of the suburban population  point of view. That's a simplification, this blogger realizes, but it's close enough to examine the kinds of thinking that is happening and causing the divide. So like the old song, let's call the characters, 'City' and' Country'.

Okay, 'City' wants lots of government control, government dictating their lives and protecting them, plus the financial perks that come from that august body. 'Country' wants less government, fewer perks, and generally to be left alone to live life as they see fit.

'City' has the advantage of being over-populated and harboring most of the poor and disadvantaged so that at election time, it is ripe for voter encouragements of one kind or another and single party voting. 'Country' on the other hand is inclined to be less anxious to vote when the choices favor 'City' and those who do vote often favor a variety of out of 'city favor' candidates, thereby splitting their vote.

The result as it is clear to see becomes a vote that represents a smaller portion of the 'Country's' population, showing  advantage to 'City'  NOT IN OVERALL POPULATION BUT IN OVERALL VOTES, thereby forcing Americans as a whole to accept the desires of a smaller portion of the population.  It also becomes clear that at some point, that disproportionate control by 'City' is going to SEIZE UP AND CAUSE GRIDLOCK. AND THAT IS WHAT OUR CONGRESS HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING!!!!!!!!!!!
GRIDLOCK IS WHEN THE BALANCE OF POWER IS OUT OF CONTROL. A visual image would be if you put one person on one side of  a TEETER-TOTTER (like that?) and another person and a rock on the other side!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The see-saw won't move because THE WEIGHT IS TOO UNEQUAL.

THESE IMAGES MAKE US AWARE THAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE UP FOR THEIR UNEQUAL WEIGHT  IN REPRESENTING A LARGER PORTION OF THE COUNTRY (AND A GREATER POPULATION) THAN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY WHICH IS REPRESENTING A SMALLER PORTION OF THE COUNTRY AND A SMALLER POPULATION (ALTHOUGH A LARGER VOTING REPRESENTATION)  GIVING IT THE ADVANTAGE. CLEAR?????????

THE CONGRESS, WHICH HOLDS REPRESENTATIVES FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY, IS DESIGNED TO REPRESENT THE CONFLICTS OF INTEREST. WHEN PRESIDENT OBAMA WAS ELECTED IN 2008, THE CONGRESS ALMOST COMPLETELY REPRESENTED 'CITY'. THE ELECTION IN 2010  BROUGHT TO THE POLLS 'COUNTRY' CANDIDATES AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CHANGED TO REPRESENT 'COUNTRY'. WE NOW HAVE A CONGRESS THAT IS SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT BOTH SIDES--- BUT PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS BECOME THE 'ROCK' THAT WEIGHS DOWN THE 'CITY' SIDE.

AND THERE, MY FRIENDS, IS YOUR GRIDLOCK. THE CONGRESS IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE BODY PASSING THE LAWS, MAKING THE BUDGETS, AND GENERALLY RUNNING WASHINGTON FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE NATION. PRESIDENT OBAMA IS SUPPOSED TO BE SIGNING THEIR BILLS. NOT DIRECTING THEIR VOTES AS HE DID IN THE CASE OF HEALTH CARE, GUN CONTROL, IMMIGRATION, AND SO FORTH.  THIS BLOGGER HAS SAID IT BEFORE AND  WILL SAY IT AGAIN. THE PRESIDENT IN THIS COUNTRY WAS NOT MEANT TO BE IN CHARGE OF ANYTHING. HE WAS DESIGNED TO BE A PRETTY FACE AND SMOOTH TONGUE.

THERE WAS GOOD REASON FOR THAT AND WE ARE SEEING THE RESULT OF IT IN WASHINGTON TODAY. THE PRESIDENT HAS BECOME THE STONE AROUND THE NATION'S NECK AND HE SIMPLY DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT HIS CONTRIBUTION SHOULD BECOME. HE IS THE REASON FOR GRIDLOCK AND ONLY HE CAN CLEAR IT.

OUR CONGRESS MAY NOT BE THE SWIFTEST MOVING BODY, THE MOST ASTUTE BODY, OR EVEN THE MOST REASONABLE BODY OF MEN BUT IT IS THE BODY OF MEN ENTRUSTED WITH DEALING WITH THE LAWS OF THE LAND AND PROVIDING A WAY FOR THIS HUGE NATION TO COPE WITH THE MANY DISSENTING IDEAS AND OPINIONS THAT OCCUR. IT IS OUR PROTECTION AND OUR SALVATION. WITHOUT IT AND THE SUPREME COURT WE BECOME A DICTATORSHIP. CALL IT MARXIST, CALL IT FASCISM, CALL IT SWEETBREADS.  CALL IT WHATEVER YOU WANT BUT IT IS NOT RULE BY A BODY OF ELECTED MEN BUT ESSENTIALLY BY ONE..........ONE MAN ONLY.

LET THE CONGRESS DO ITS JOB. STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT DRAGGING ITS COLLECTIVE  FEET. FORCE PRESIDENT OBAMA TO LISTEN TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IN FACT DEMAND THAT HE LISTEN TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! HE MUST HONOR THE SYSTEM HE WAS ELECTED TO LEAD AND UNDERSTAND THAT LEAD DOES NOT MEAN DICTATE.

IF YOU WANT THE ECONOMY TO BE RATIONAL AND REAL, OUR FINANCIAL SYSTEM TO BE SECURE, ELECT PEOPLE TO CONGRESS THAT WILL PUT THAT NEED BEFORE THEIR STATE'S OR ANY LOBBYIST'S NEEDS. WE'VE DONE IT BEFORE AND WE CAN DO IT AGAIN  BUT NOT.................NOT WITH A ROCK ON ONE SIDE OF THE TEETER-TOTTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both quotations need rereading. Twain was right. Support your country but your government only when it is being run right. And King points out that Nazi Socialism was based on LAW-- BAD LAW that citizens approved. BE ALERT TO THE DANGERS THIS COUNTRY FACES, SUPPORT IT BY TAKING  BACK  THE RULE OF THE MAJORITY!!!!!!!!!!!!
