A Final Post

When this blog was started it was to try to make economics simple. Over the years the focus changed. Understanding economics was not enough. It was felt that there was a more urgent need, urgent enough to temporarily supersede more important things like art or literature.
Connie was not interested in subtle distinctions between socialism, communism, progressivism, or any similar set of ideas. As far as she was concerned, they might as well all be the same, and all needed to be opposed. She believed that Jeb Bush would make a good president, and never wavered from that belief even as she became a fervent supporter of Donald Trump. I was surprised, and once asked about the difference in manners and character between Jeb and Donald. Connie said of Trump, "I know he's an asshole, but he's an asshole who loves America, and that's what we need right now." I think she never wavered from that belief either. She will not be changing her beliefs, because she is now beyond all of the mundane affairs of this world. She had been increasingly ill with lung, heart, and circulatory problems. She was hospitalized, in ICU for over a week, and insisted on coming home. She did come home, to be assisted by Treasure Coast Hospice, but she lasted just a few hours. Connie passed away peacefully on February 1, 2018, in the early morning hours. This post is by her son, Jackson. The sadness and emptiness will ease in time, leaving her signature attitude: cheers.
