Hi,
Well, the last week in April was a spectacular one with some justice, some "beatification", some hope begun.
Taking Osama bin Laden after ten years was certainly satisfying if mystifying. How our CIA could not find a million dollar home being built for an obviously important Arab in a town, Abbottabad, known to harbor Arab army retirees as well as soldiers, is a mystery.
Of course, the nation is glad that justice has been done and that Obama gave some credit to George Bush, who set up the type of troops and missions that finally did the job; surprising as well as election worthy. And the fact that it was done in a way that allowed us to do the exact justice without unnecessary killing or mayhem is a credit to Obama and his administration. It was certainly well orchestrated. So much so that it leaves many doubts in many folks minds but be that as it may, we congratulate Obama, who can milk a public relations COW until it's so dry, it cannot be milked again, which underlines his triumphs at being elected.
That bin Laden's job was over and he was living his "retirement" years with the machine he created fully in motion without him is a moot point. That it won't collapse without him as it once might have done is just too bad for us. The terrorists' war is an insidious and dangerous mission and until it focuses on some other enemy, we will not have the peace that we once enjoyed. Make no mistake!!!!! I have said this before. THIS IS A RELIGIOUS WAR!!!!!!!! And has existed for over l000 years. And since Communism has captured so much of the Western world, it has expanded the Islamic religious forces, who see a religious vacuum that they feel must be filled with Mohammad's word. The terrorists are simply a symptom of a strongly held Arab belief that CONVERSION is the ONLY ANSWER.
Christians should understand CONVERSION. It is certainly something that Christianity has pursued over the years. But it becomes quite UNCOMFORTABLE when being foisted upon one rather than one pursuing REFORM. There's an old saying "WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND" and it does seem to fit our Nation's current situation.
Perhaps religious freedom should extend to allowing that concept of freedom in a larger arena by using missionary work to expand knowledge without any forms of coercion from any group. The Arabs need to understand that philosophy, and over-zealous Christians as well. The Communists, who are proponents of Atheism, might take a page out of the same "Holy" book.
At present in the United States, all three forces are fighting for the control of the minds, spiritual lives, and beliefs of America's citizens. WE JUST THOUGHT THE RELIGIOUS WARS WERE OVER!!!!!!!!!! WE WERE WRONG!!!!!!!!
And since citizens of this country have used PEACE to PARTY rather than PARTICIPATE IN THE RESPONSIBILITY for moral, cultural, and political WELFARE, there is certainly a HUGE OPENING for ZEALOTS to CREATE MAYHEM!!!!!!!Of course it helps the UNDERGROUND economy. More on that in the next blog.
"HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL" FROM A WEDDING!!!!!!!!!! In a world that lately seems rife with struggle, change, and TRAPPED ECONOMIES, THE ROYAL WEDDING OFFERED HOPE FOR THE FUTURE. AND THE ECONOMIC VALUE IS STUPENDOUS!!!!! HOPE OPENS THE PURSE TOWARD MORE HOPE!! CRASS??????????NO,JUST A TRUTH!!!!
ENGLAND has one over-riding feature that we should help them protect at ANY COST. The Crown in England represents CONTINUITY!!!!!! Each of us in every country UNDERSTAND WITHOUT CONSCIOUS THOUGHT THAT IF THE ENGLISH CROWN CAN SURVIVE "ALL THAT" SO CAN WE!!!!!!!!!! Our English friends have maintained continuity in spite of wars, loss of power, challenges to its culture, changes in types of government, and even insults from WORLD LEADERS LIKE OBAMA. And they have done this WITH GRACE, STYLE,AND GOOD MANNERS!!!!
Not inviting our President to the wedding after his and Michelle's obvious scorn of tradition was even done with a polite, saving grace type of nod to America's leader. Our leaders could learn something from that type of diplomatic and smoothly conceived understanding!!!!!!!!!!Too often our country does not make the things it does NOT WANT TO DO seem reasonable and acceptable. The BRITISH WIGGLE GOOD!!!!!!!!
The interesting factor is that England's wedding IMPROVED THE ECONOMY IN ALL THE LANDS IN WHICH IT WAS BROADCAST. I haven't yet seen a tally of the amount spent on souvenirs of "Kate and Will's" wedding nor the return of the various companies, media coverage, or ongoing expenditures by the public for travel, hotels etc. but it was immense. The impact of the amount spent by the crown on the wedding itself should make the British government thank Queen Elizabeth, who always seems to be able to create pageants in rough times to bolster the spirits of her citizens. YEAH,JERRY SEINFELD, it was a CIRCUS to you but it was ALSO HOPE, JOY, AND BELIEF done up in WHITE WITH A BIG BLUE AND GOLD RIBBON for the rest of us!!!!!!!
By the way, my family felt we were a little part of the fun when the future Princess Kate took up residence in the GORING HOTEL on Beeston St. in London. It is a lovely, old English hotel with proper service and lovely tea in the afternoon. My husband and children stay there when in London and we took my London-born Dad with my Mum there for a visit some years ago.
If he were alive today, he'd be telling the story for years that he stayed in the "Royal" Goring Hotel. He was a proud Englishman and American. We also visited the house in which he was born, behind some gates that he recognized, and he visited for an hour with the folks now in residence. He found out that it would be torn down that same year. We all had tears in our eyes to think we almost missed this opportunity for him to revisit his past. Two English cabs (there were seven of us) turned off their meters to allow a returning ENGLISHMAN a long visit!!!!!! A fact that placed English CAB DRIVERS high on my list of SPECIAL PEOPLE!! It's all RECOUNTED in my book 'LONDON TO PARIS BY 'CHUTTLE'".
So, quite a week! The Pope's "beatification" was for the Catholics a triumph over the scandals that have scourged the church in recent years. The Pope's status as a Saint is now virtually guaranteed. The continuity of the Vatican is another long treasured link to the past and speaks of hope for the future of all religious belief. Although many folks are not as tuned into this event as the previous ones, believe me, it is a BIG ONE FOR THE CATHOLIC CHURCH and attests to the belief in their CONTINUITY as change has swept across their lands. Catholics have been in a long battle with atheistic communism and it has taken its toll. There is hope that the Beatification of JOHN PAUL II can convince his followers of the sanctity and moral convictions of his life and that of his Holy staff. This, of course, was a big boost to the economies of heavily Catholic Economies.
With the hope that some or all of the events in late April touched you positively,
CHEERS, CONNIE
