Newt has a rejected ex-wife and the reporter gave her an opportunity to EVEN??????? the score. She took it--she's human if NOT ETHICAL. CAN THE possible ECONOMIC LOSS THAT MAY BE CAUSED BY THIS LAPSE OF ETHICS be made calculable? DOUBTFUL. The PRESS USED an evidently still bitter woman's GOSSIP TO SWAY VOTERS TO THEIR POINT OF VIEW.
"AMEN'-NOT BECAUSE OF NEWT GINGRICH OR THE FREE RIDE OBAMA GETS FROM IT BUT BECAUSE THE IRRESPONSIBILITY OF THE PRESS IS DAMAGING AMERICA AND COSTING US IN MULTIPLE WAYS FISCALLY AND PERSONALLY. THE PRESS GETS FREE REIGN IN THE CONSTITUTION AND THEREFORE ITS ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITY SHOULD BE MAINTAINED AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. IT IS NOW AT THE LOWEST LEVEL OF SELF-SERVING PROFITEERING!!!!!

As a former member of the FOURTH ESTATE, I FEEL REAL SHAME for the current members of the press, who have embarked in an era during which YELLOW JOURNALISM is the NORM AND NOT THE EXCEPTION. It's the PROFIT MOTIVE!!!!!!!! MORE READERS--MORE LISTENERS---MORE PROFIT!!!!!!!!!!! Viewers and readers encourage this lack of ethics. I applaud RUPERT MURDOCH for his PAPERS' Conservative VIEWPOINT AND CONDEMN HIM for TEACHING THE PRESS to use YELLOW JOURNALISM to SELL THE NEWS AND DESTROY OPPONENTS.
The NEWSPAPER, MAGAZINE, AND TELEVISION NEWS IS MADE UP OF TOO MANY "HOLIER THAN THOU" CORRESPONDENTS, WHO CARE MORE ABOUT THEIR OWN EGOS AND POINTS OF VIEW THAN A CONCERN FOR HONESTY AND ETHICS.
THE PUBLIC HAS TO SHARE THE BLAME. Although there are folks who refuse to PAY ATTENTION to much of the TRASH THAT HAS BECOME THE NEWS IN MANY PUBLICATIONS AND ON MOST NETWORKS, there are too many more who SUCK UP AND SPREAD THE GOSSIP LIKE HONEY AND ACT AS BUSY BEES SPREADING IT UNTIL IT BECOMES THE TRUTH IN THE RETELLING EVEN THOUGH IT IS A LIE!!!!!!!!
This is not just wrong. It is totally UNETHICAL!!!!!!!!! Why should any candidate running for any office have to FEAR THE FOURTH ESTATE????????? I WANT TO MEET THIS PERFECT PERSON, THIS PERFECT CANDIDATE WHO SERVES AS A ROLE MODEL FOR THE NEWS MEDIA!!!!!!!!!! WHERE IS HE/SHE AND WHY IS THERE NOT A PROFILE IN EVERY PAPER AS A USEFUL CHARACTER REFERENCE. NO, IT'S NOT OBAMA!!!!!!!! HE CARRIES too MUCH BAGGAGE. It just HASN'T APPEARED IN THE PRESS so ONE DOES WONDER ABOUT BIAS. THE PRESS MAY TURN ON HIM ONE DAY.
HOWEVER, this blogger is not interested in NEWS BIAS. That's always going to exist but perhaps not QUITE AS BLATANTLY AS NOW. Reporters and correspondents have opinions and it's going to slip into their copy no matter how ethical they may be view their profession. Ethics in the news is based on reporting factual, honest stories of the the world around us as well as the broader sphere. It is based on FACTUAL REPORTING so that if a candidate is being covered, the public has a right to know the views that candidate may hold and the recorded background of his/her history.
An ETHICAL REPORT ON A CANDIDATE DOES NOT--DOES NOT--INCLUDE WHAT DAISY MAE SAID ABOUT THE CANDIDATE OR WHAT JOHNNIE CLAIMED ABOUT THE CANDIDATE'S SEXUAL PREFERENCES!!!!!! COME ON FOLKS--YOU KNOW THIS. AND KNOWING THIS, YOUR LETTERS SHOULD POUR INTO THE PAPERS AND TV WHEN THEY BREAK THIS RULE!!!!! THOSE CALLING THE PRESS SHOULD ACCEPT NO EXCUSES.
ETHICS IS IMPORTANT TO THE RELATIONSHIPS IN A SOCIETY AND CITIZENS SHOULD TAKE NO PRISONERS WHEN DEFENDING THEM!!!!!!!!! WHAT HAPPENS when neighbors gossip intimately about another neighbor and it gets back to the slandered neighbor? FEUD TIME AND NEIGHBORHOOD PEACE IS DISTURBED AT THE LEAST OR ANGER CAUSES VIOLENCE AT THE WORST. HEY!!!!OUR COUNTRY IS ONE GIGANTIC NEIGHBORHOOD AND GOSSIP CAUSES JUST AS MANY AND MORE PROBLEMS.
Remember the party game that when you whispered a sentence into someone's ear and passed it along among ten people? It became a MANGLED VERSION OF ITS FORMER STYLE. That's a simple version of MANGLED TRUTH. The police will tell you how much 'EYE WITNESS' accounts vary.
A reporter in the "pre yellow journalism days" was always instructed to talk to as many folks as well as the authorities to get 'AS REAL' a picture as possible of the event. And added to that the instruction was to use the word, "alleged", or some qualifying word to indicate we were reporting only the facts we could gather. IT'S A TRICKY BUSINESS--REPORTING!!!!!!! AND HOW NICE for reporters IF THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE REALLY GOOD AT IT!!!!!!!!! GOSSIPING IS NOT GOOD REPORTING AND DOES NOT GOOD REPORTERS MAKE!
So how does all this affect you ECONOMICALLY? I THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER ASK!!!!!! Gossip can cause you to change your really accurate opinions on many subjects or become wary because of what you may have heard. Suppose your neighbor claims that the BUTCHER you buy from IS BUYING FROM A DISTRIBUTOR THAT SELLS DISEASED MEAT? The neighbor, by the way, unbeknownst to you, has a major debt with him THAT he's been trying to collect. You don't WANT TO BELIEVE the gossip but now you hesitate buying there and go to another store but pay a HIGHER PRICE. You have lost money as well as a good shopping experience. This is a simple example but MAKE NO MISTAKE--EVEN THE MOST SEEMINGLY INNOCENT GOSSIP CAN BE VICIOUS AND HAVE ITS ROOTS IN VINDICTIVENESS AND THE COSTS CAN BE ALMOST INCALCULABLE.
When the Press uses its MIGHT TO SPREAD GOSSIP in POLITICS, it is costing Americans first and foremost the quality of its candidates. NOT MANY WANT TO PUT THEMSELVES IN THE GOSSIP-MONGERING LIMELIGHT. Many times candidates quit not out of guilt but to spare their families the humiliation of YELLOW JOURNALISM.
THE LACK OF press ETHICS costs citizens the ability to SORT THE WHEAT FROM THE CHAFF. Press GOSSIP destroys the value of ETHICAL BEHAVIOR in the society and that destruction causes untold costs in the things that Americans want and need. IF ETHICS HAD BEEN FIRST AND FOREMOST IN THE MORTGAGE INDUSTRY, THERE WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN A MAJOR MELT DOWN!!!!!!!!
Another example is in the market place. Food today comes from all over the world. WOULD YOU these days BUY FROM AN UNETHICAL GROCER WHO DOESN'T TELL YOU WHERE THE FOOD COMES FROM? It was ethics in Washington that made grocers label foods. A good use of Washington ethical law since many countries use HUMAN WASTE FOR FERTILIZER.
FOLKS--ETHICS ARE IMPORTANT!!!!!!!! DON'T IGNORE THE BREACH OF THEM. IT'S A SPREADING DISEASE!!!!!!!
