Greece is sure making the Euro Union look like what it is--A Socialist idea that is bad for the involved countries. The problem is that when one country goes sour, they are all affected and on the line.
And the Greek folks like people everywhere have gotten used to the perks that the Socialist Government gave them and promised they would always have. THE citizens DON'T WANT TO GIVE THEM BACK!!!!!!!!!! The so-called "have-nots" benefited from the "so-called haves" sharing their hard won earnings to such an extent that the "haves" are now "have-nots" and the former "have-not's" WILL ONCE AGAIN BE "HAVE-NOTS". Education has certainly helped to create a larger middle class to the extent that it has become difficult to find those who are willing to do the everyday tasks that require doing. This difficulty has in turn led to "open immigration" to fill those jobs.
England at one time had a beneficial program of training people to do jobs that normally would go wanting. They made butlers, household help and so forth part of a trained society that took pride in their work and were NO LONGER LOOKED DOWN ON as beneath people. They were simply another segment of society. Unfortunately, the English still maintained a class ridden society, and caused the training that was a good idea to fall by the wayside.
TOO BAD BECAUSE IT WORKS VERY WELL ALL ACROSS VARYING STRATA OF SOCIETY. WORKING IN A GROUP THAT VALUES THEIR LABOR IS WHAT MAKES PEOPLE PROUD. THINK OF THE GROUPS: SPORTS, ARTS, FINANCIAL, LAWYERS, DOCTORS, PILOTS, BROKERS, ADMINISTRATORS ETC. ETC. They ACQUIRE TRAINING, TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR WORK, AND FIND SATISFACTION IN IT AND DO NOT DEEM THEIR EFFORTS beneath them!!!!
WHY CAN'T WE DO THE SAME for all types of work????????? There is certainly no benefit to looking down on one kind of work while lauding another. IT IS JUST A DIFFERENCE IN TRAINING.
AND NOW, PARTICULARLY WITH TECHNOLOGY, WE SHOULD BE PROVIDING A CATEGORY OF COMPUTER TRAINING IN ALL OUR SCHOOLS SO THAT SOME REALLY UNPLEASANT JOBS CAN BE HANDLED BY ROBOTS AND COMPUTERS.
RETHINKING OUR ATTITUDES MAY BE MORE THE KEY to success in CAPITALISM than other more esoteric and self-serving remedies. I have read that the FRENCH WORK TO PLAY BUT MOST AMERICANS LOVE TO WORK TO ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING AS WELL AS EARN MONEY TO WORK AT PLAYING. I think that's why volunteer causes are so much more effective here than abroad. We are a nation of DOERS AND THAT has BROUGHT GREAT AND GOOD RESULTS.

In a previous BLOG, the demise of Communism in the world was described (areas in Europe, Asia, and South America etc. etc.) because it is FRANKLY going down AND THE ECONOMIES OF COMMUNIST COUNTRIES ARE BATTLING FAILURE. That's why they need America as a beacon.
Greece is a great example of Socialism gone wrong, however the Communist economies in ALL THE EUROZONE COUNTRIES SUCH AS England, France, Spain, Italy ETC. are suffering from financial woes in a greater degree than America. The problems experienced in the U.S. mortgage debacle WAS CAUSED by the SOCIALIZED ELEMENT OF OUR GOVERNMENT with interference through Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac, AND is NOW being USED BY OBAMA to bail out???????? the DEFUNCT mortgagees.
It is the same approach that those GOVERNMENT DARLINGS used that SUNK AMERICANS INTO THIS RECESSION MESS. GREEDY BANKERS, BROKERAGE HOUSES, AND MORTGAGE AGENCIES FINISHED THE JOB. This blog has discussed this before. The current WISDOM is that the world is in the beginning stages of a big shift toward technology and it is merging with globalization and information technology. The PRESSURE TO CHANGE (much like the Industrial revolution) is causing job performance to deteriorate, JOBS TO BE LOST, and creating a stress that no one can quite put their finger on but that seems to emanate from using old but now dysfunctional methods that are fouling up the works.
People react to the stress of the resulting problems OF CHANGE in various ways. One way is to march!! Have you thought about the old days when GOING TO WAR WAS USED TO build THE ECONOMY? HOW DID THEY START???????? THEY MARCHED THE SOLDIERS IN CLEAR VIEW AS IF TO SAY "SEE, WE'RE FIXING 'IT'!!!!!!!" WHATEVER THE HELL 'IT' IS!!!!!!!!!!! ANOTHER WAY stress and concern manifests is through YOUNG PEOPLE who DEMAND CHANGE IN THEIR LEADERS. Those leaders mostly don't have a clue ABOUT what is wrong either. The very LAST THING MOST FOLKS DO IS acknowledge and ACCEPT CHANGE!!!!!!!! They ruminate. They blame. They thrash about and they yell (a lot) thinking that maybe NOISE WILL SCARE CHANGE OFF!!!!!!!! But CHANGE IS INEVITABLE (AND MORE OFTEN GOOD THAN BAD).

The word Economics either turns people off or scares them off because it sounds DULL, DULL, DULL!!!!!!! Or DIFFICULT. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------IT'S REALLY NOT EITHER ONE!!
ECONOMICS IN 80 blogs SHOULD PROVE IT IS the subject of our LIVES AND LIVING. It includes finances and politics as well as the information on our daily lives and needs. The Web is proof of how much the subject now encompasses. If you google economics, you'll find that the information on the site is mind boggling in its variety.
Of course, money makes the world revolve. It doesn't necessarily provide happiness, contentment, love or sometimes even fame but it does make the wheels roll. Especially those car wheels these days!!!!!!!!!! So, first and foremost, Economics talks about finance and that always includes power based entities like politics, corporations, entertainment etc. etc. All of the industries we rely on become part of our daily lives and economics.
Even our conversation includes the ideas. How ECONOMICAL WAS IT TO SHOP AT XYZ TODAY OR WOULD IT BE MORE ECONOMICAL TO GO TO BFZ???????????
OBVIOUSLY, the existence of Economics in your budget is clear as things go up and down and factors affect it such as the oil companies' gasoline prices. Pricing affects your budget both positively (price warfare on products in the computer field) or negatively (increases in food staples). Economics is controlled by spending or non-spending by the consumer. We all know that PROFIT IS IMPORTANT TO COMPANIES BECAUSE IT IS USED to pay salaries, build greater products, expand facilities, and dozens of other hidden expenses.

WHY DO THE CSPs WANT TO OWN AMERICA? TO SAVE THEIR DYING IDEOLOGY! POST 80

Well, we are again at the beginning of a deadly skirmish, police action, war or whatever the "killing fields" are called now by the current political group. This time in Uganda because the Rebels are killing folks and THAT'S "OUR BUSINESS" because there are lawless gangs killing people and that's NOT A GOOD THING!!!!!!!
Jeez, did we send troops to Chicago in the twenties and thirties during prohibition so that lawless gangs wouldn't kill folks who didn't agree with their point of view. We sent FBI AND TREASURY AGENTS, not armed military. OF COURSE THE FBI AND TREASURY AGENTS can seem like the military to American bad guys. Life is filled with MEAN FOLKS WHO JUST CAN'T ABIDE OTHER MEAN FOLKS who don't agree with their point of view.

MARCH TO THE BEAT OF A REAL WORLD. POST 79

To hear the media tell it, they're marching all over THE Wall STREET brokers and causing untold confusions. Unfortunately, the media made the mistake of showing an overhead view of the marchers and if they were more than 500, they must have been hiding. In a country peopled by over 312 Million, that's not even a "drop in the bucket". The press modified its propaganda by saying there are uprisings in cities over the country. Well, there was a group in a Miami, Florida park this week who were barbecuing politicians and bankers verbally rather than picnicking.
Of course, we understand that the Communists, whoops there I go again, the Progressives hope to play on the angst of hormone rising youth, the unemployed, Union Workers (who love to participate in anything opposed to any kind of business that doesn't pay their salary) and whatever other malcontents, misguided citizens, or illegal aliens that will support their love of Barack Obama and their BIG GOVERNMENT AGENDA!
Whoopee, here we go again. The Communists did this in the thirties, the Socialists in the Sixties, and now the Progressives in the "teens". They're all the same group, COMMUNISTS, SOCIALISTS, PROGRESSIVES by the way--just a little NAME CHANGE to woo supporters. To hear the media tell it, they're marching all over THE Wall STREET brokers and causing untold confusions. Unfortunately, the media made the mistake of showing an overhead view of the marchers and if they were more than 500, they must have been hiding. In a country peopled by over 312 Million, that's not even a "drop in the bucket". The press modified its propaganda by saying there are uprisings in cities over the country. Well, there was a group in a Miami, Florida park this week who were barbecuing politicians and bankers verbally rather than picnicking.

There used to be an old expression, "there's more than one way to skin a cat", which is not a lovely thought but in this case for the unlovely subject, appropriate.
Early in September, I read a small article in the local newspaper about the Federal Government suing 17 financial firms, "including the largest U.S. banks" for selling government OPERATED Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac billions of dollars worth of mortgage-backed securities that turned toxic when the housing market collapsed. NEVER MIND THE GOVERNMENT'S CULPABILITY IN THESE MORTGAGE LOAN FIASCOES!!!!!!!!!!!!They're ignoring their part by suing FREE ENTERPRISE BUSINESSES.
Bank of America Corp, Citigroup Inc., and a variety of various brokerage houses were targeted by the Federal Housing Finance Agency which OVERSEES Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in buying mortgage loans and mortgage securities. EVIDENTLY "OVERSEEING" DOES NOT MEAN AVOIDING RISK BUT MEANS SHIFTING BLAME TO TO THE BANKS!!!!!!!!!!!
Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae bought $196 billion worth of risky investments. (Now that's some fancy OVERSEEING BY THE FEDERAL HOUSING FINANCE AGENCY!!!!!!!!) HOW COME THEY DIDN'T CHECK THEM OUT TO ASSESS RISK????????ISN'T THAT WHAT THEY ARE SUPPOSEDLY EXPECTED TO DO????? The suit alleges that the financial firms broke federal and state laws with the sales to FM and FM-IGNORING THAT THESE LOANS WERE SOLICITED BY FANNIE MAE AND FREDDIE MAC.
NOT ONLY SOLICITED BUT FIRMLY ENCOURAGED AS A WAY TO PROVIDE HOMES FOR THE POORER MEMBERS OF OUR SOCIETY. THESE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES ARE SEEKING EXONERATION as well as reimbursement plus interest etc. etc. PLUS ACCUSING THOSE INVOLVED IN THE SALES WITH BREAKING FEDERAL LAWS WHICH EVIDENTLY DON'T INCLUDE EMPLOYEES IN GOVERNMENT POSITIONS!!!!!!
The knowledge THAT the Communists' PHILOSOPHY, oh excuse me, PROGRESSIVES' PHILOSOPHY, IS BASED ON ACQUIRING THE BANKING INDUSTRY (or FINANCIAL) SYSTEM, the POLITICAL SYSTEM, and ESTABLISHING DEPENDENCY ON GOVERNMENT is or should be well-known. So, of course, too much REALLY BLATANT ACTION on the part of the Progressives in power IN AMERICA ALARMS THE PUBLIC AND IN RECENT YEARS a softer approach has been advised so that it is easy to deny.
Therefore, it behooves the Progressives to find more subtle ways TO "SKIN THE CAT" especially concerning the banking system in America. The maneuver of making banking dependent on Government controlled FANNIE MAE AND FREDDY MAC, while encouraging greater and greater risky mortgage taking, certainly yielded a bonanza. It was a Progressive "win-win" situation that one has to acknowledge for its duplicity!!!!!!
Putting one over on bankers has long been a cherished game and the Progressives certainly did that. Bankers chose dependency on questionable Federal lending agencies because of greater PROFIT. Progressives in Government solicited a position of funding mortgages for those who could not afford them and in the case of default being able to BLAME THE BANKERS FOR THEIR PART IN THE RUSE!!!!!! BANKERS FORGOT THE OLD RULE OF BANKING--LOAN NOT TO FALLACY FOR FALLACY LOANS TO FAILURE. In other words--loans that can't be repaid are lost money not profit.
There is no doubt that SOME of the current slate of BANKERS were CREDIT FOOLS WHO SAW ONLY THE PROFIT SIDE NOT THE "DOWNSLIDE". THOSE BANKERS CERTAINLY IGNORED another old saying "A MAN IS MEASURED BY HIS DEEDS NOT HIS POCKETBOOK".

CHICKEE HUTS, WATER, FIRE, AND CREATIVITY- POST 77

Amusement at the JUSTIFICATIONS often given as excuses for even the most basic of actions, the laughter becomes hardier at the more complex of the justifications. By the way, this kind of justifying is recorded in Shakespeare's time so folks have been excusing their feeble ways for centuries.
The latest in a long line of justification for inaction harks back to blog #62 on the use of water in drought stricken fire areas from flood driven water areas in America. There was an article out of Washington recently that pooh poohed the idea of taking water to drought areas from flood areas as too costly and unrealistic. The article cited "a Texas oilman who once envisioned long pipelines carrying water to drought stricken Texas cities". A VISIONARY, obviously, whose idea was ahead of its time. The article called it just one of the untested fantasies of moving water vast distances.
GOOD IDEAS START OUT AS FANTASIES AND THOSE WHO HEAR THEM ALWAYS SAY "OH, NO THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE BECAUSE (WRITE IN HERE WHATEVER JUSTIFICATION!!!!!! that COMES TO MIND).

"and thus not realistic." (NEITHER IS THE GOVERNMENT IN WASHINGTON BUT WE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THAT!!!!!!) "Mostly it's too costly and political"(SAME AS WASHINGTON AGAIN!!!!!! AND THIS NEWS WRITER LIVES THERE?????). OKAY--neither WAS making a pipeline to Alaska and let's remember ALL WHO SAID IT COULDN'T BE DONE and THAT IT WASN'T REALISTIC. SAME EXPERTS.
THE ANSWER TO THAT can be assumed to be "but oil MAKES MONEY". OF COURSE IT DOES AND SO COULD WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!! In Florida, a man was run out of the Restaurant business after a three-year code dispute and fines amounting to over $638,000. ($500. a day) HIS SIN?????????? Bad food-NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!!! LOUSY SERVICE?????????? NO, NO, NO. CHEEKY ATTITUDE??????????? Well MAYBE. HE HAD THE AUDACITY TO BUILD A "CHICKEE HUT" on the side of his business.
For those of you not familiar with FLORIDA INDIANS, THE CHICKEE HUT WAS THE INDIAN HABITAT AND THE HUTS WERE FOUND ALL OVER FLORIDA as little as TWENTY YEARS AGO. And many locals including my parents had them built in their back yards for barbecues. Great atmosphere!!!! THEY HAVE ROOFS OF Palm Fronds among other vegetation and a frame of local wood from trees. They were cherished because of their history. Now this Florida town took exception to a CHICKEE HUT being built on the Restaurant owner's land NEXT TO HIS RESTAURANT (NOT IN IT) WHICH COST HIM $26,000. (even Indian wampum has risen) and was not up to THEIR zoning standards (ONLY THE INDIAN'S). HISTORY SELDOM IS up to ZONING STANDARDS!!!!!!!!! They told THE RESTAURANTEUR to take it down and he refused. AFTER ALL IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FREEEEEE COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!
END OF TALE??????????? Well he tried to get approval for modification--city said no deal--tear it down or be fined. OUT OF THE MESS OF LAW, THE CITY WAS AWARDED A FORECLOSURE JUDGEMENT (because they had the law on their side with zoning) WHICH ALLOWED THE CITY TO TAKE THE MAN'S PROPERTY TO RESOLVE THE FINES so HE JUST FILED FOR CHAPTER 11 bankruptcy.
Our REALISTIC LEGAL SYSTEM DID NOT SEE HISTORIC SEMINOLE INDIAN CHICKEE HUTS AS BEING EXEMPT FROM BUILDING CODES IMPOSED BY THE PRESENT ZONING SYSTEM. Our legal system is based on THE REALITY of LAW.
CAN WE SEE THAT THE REALITY OF PRESENT DAY LAW AND THE REALITY OF LIFE HAVE DIFFERING POINTS OF VIEW????????????
